Sunny Deol’s Son Rajveer Says Karan Was At ‘All-Time Low’ After Flop Debut: ‘I’m Glad I Auditioned’ –

Sunny Deol poses with his sons Rajveer Deol (L) and Karan Deol.

Rajveer Deol says he is happy that he was asked to audition for his debut movie unlike his elder brother Karan Deol, who was launched by dad Sunny Deol.

Sunny Deol’s younger son, Rajveer Deol, is all set to make his big acting debut with the coming-of-age romance film Dono. The film also marks the directorial debut of Sooraj R Barjatya’s son, Avnish S Barjatya, and veteran actress Poonam Dhillon’s daughter, Paloma.

In an exclusive conversation with Showsha, Rajveer said he was nervous about living up to the audience’s expectations from his first film. “I have a huge shadow of my father and I have to make my way through. Everyone expects me to do an action film just because my father is known for his action films so I am just curious to see how the audience will react to my debut film,” he told us.

At the same time, the young Deol says that he doesn’t blame the audience for all the comparisons with his father, “They have seen my father succeeding as an action hero and he does it so well. I believe they want a new version of my father for the next generation. But for me to be the next action hero is asking for too much and it’s not natural for me also. This is a different time and we both have our own identities. The best thing to do is to ignore these comparisons and do what I want to do and what I think is good for me.”

Rajveer’s elder brother Karan Deol, who recently tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, made his acting debut back in 2019 with Pal Di Pl Ke Pass, which was directed by their father Sunny Deol and was co-produced by their own production house Sunny Super Sound.

Rajveer says that he is happy about not being launched by his own family. “I was prepping up so there was no discussion that my family was going to launch me. After Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass was released, I saw him going through his (Karan) all-time low. So my biggest challenge is having a fear of not earning it on your own and making it on your own. So when Dono happened, I am glad that they asked me to audition as I don’t want to feel that I am not worth it.”

Ask him if his elder brother offered him any advice before his first film and he says, “We are good pals and we talk telepathically rather than having a conversation (laughs). He told me that I was lucky to be launched outside the family because he saw the difficulty of being launched by the family. He did not have the freedom to choose the character he wanted to play or have a perspective as there are many seniors like my father who were a part of Pal Di Pl Ke Pass so when these people are involved, it puts a chain on an actor to have freedom to explore. He was really happy that I was doing Dono which was not our production.”
