Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, who was initially supposed to helm Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘King’, has stepped down as the director of the film. Instead, SRK will now collaborate with his Pathaan helmer Siddharth Anand for the film. Now, as per latest reports, Sujoy Ghosh has moved on from King, and is already in discussion for his next project. He is reportedly in talks with Shahid Kapoor for a thriller film, and if this is finalized, it will mark the actor and director’s first collaboration.
As per a report in Mid-Day, Sujoy Ghosh and Shahid Kapoor had planned to collaborate on a movie in 2021, however, the project did not materialize due to scheduling conflicts. Now, the actor-director duo has reportedly resumed discussions about the film, which will commence production in 2025. The director has had the film’s script ready for quite some time. While the details about the plot of the thriller remains under wraps, it is believed that the project will feature Sujoy Ghosh’s signature suspense and drama.
Shahid Kapoor is excited about working with Sujoy Ghosh after years of discussions. A source told Mid-Day that while the actor was interested in the film’s script earlier, the timing wasn’t right. However, now, both Shahid and Sujoy Ghosh are making it a priority to align their schedules and bring the film to life.
Shahid Kapoor’s Upcoming Projects
Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for the release of Rosshan Andrrews’ ‘Deva’ alongside Pooja Hegde. The film is scheduled to hit the big screen on January 31, 2025. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is also set to reunite with ‘Kaminey’ filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for his upcoming film ‘Arjun Ustara’. The film is scheduled to go on floors from January 6, 2025, and is scheduled to release on 5th December 2025.

In other news, last week, reports of Siddharth Anand replacing Sujoy Ghosh as the director of ‘King’ made headlines. The action film is written by Sujoy Ghosh with Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair, and Sagar Pandya. It is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment with Marflix. The film will go on floors in March 2025 and apart from Shah Rukh Khan, it also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma in the key roles.
