Suhana Khan Lauds Alia Bhatt For Rewearing Her Wedding Saree At National Awards: ‘That Was Incredible’ –

Alia Bhatt was also honoured with the Best Actress National Award for her performance in the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Suhana Khan is gearing up for her much-awaited acting debut with The Archies. During a recent promotional event for the Zoya Akhtar directorial, Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter praised Alia Bhatt for re-wearing her wedding saree for the National Awards earlier this year. Suhana called Alia’s decision “incredible” and added that it was a “much-needed message”.

“Alia wore her wedding saree again for the National Awards and I think as somebody with a platform, who has an influence, I thought that was incredible and a much-needed message,” Suhana said and then added, “She (Alia) did that and she took a stand towards sustainibility. If Alia Bhatt can re-wear her wedding saree then we can also repeat an outfit for a party.”

Alia Bhatt Won Best Actress National Award

Alia Bhatt was also honoured with the Best Actress National Award for her performance in the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi. She shared her award with Kriti Sanon, who recieved it for her 2021 movie Mimi. For the ceremony, Alia wore the hand-dyed ivory organza sari embroidered with fine tilla work, designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee for her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor in 2022.

When Alia Bhatt Revealed Why She Re-Wore Her Wedding Saree

Later, Alia Bhatt also revealed why she decided to re-wear her wedding saree and told PTI, “Whenever there is a big event or big moment coming up, you start preparing for it… I instinctively felt like, ‘I’m going to re-wear my wedding saree’. The saree was ideated and done beautifully by Sabyasachi Mukherjee but it was a lot of me, white and gold combination and certain symbols. It was the garment I felt most myself in. And it was a really special moment for a different reason. A special outfit can be worn for a special occasion more than once.”
