Steps to e-Verify ITR using Demat account: Income Tax Department

The electronic verification code (EVC) option lets taxpayers use e-Verify ITR.

IT Department: The filing season for income tax returns (ITRs) has already begun. The e-Verification of the income tax return is a requirement for taxpayers who file an ITR. An ITR must be e-verified because it completes the return filing process and is considered invalid if not completed within the allotted time.

The electronic verification code (EVC) option lets taxpayers use e-Verify ITR. Using an Aadhaar number, one can access the e-filing portal and finish the process.


Income Tax Department: Steps to e-Verify income tax return
Step 1:Click e-Verify Return on the homepage of the e-Filing portal.

Step 2: Enter your PAN, select the Assessment Year, enter the ITR’s acknowledgment number and mobile number, and then click Continue on the e-Verify Return page.

Step 3: Enter the six-digit Mobile OTP that was sent to the mobile number you provided in entered in Step 2.

Step 4: Select “Submit.”

Step 5: Click OK if you are e-Verifying the return after 120 or 30 days.

Step 6: Select the Reason of Delay from the drop-down menu and click Continue to submit a condonation delay request.

Income Tax Department: How to check income tax status

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax Department’s official website at www.incometax.gov.in.
Step 2: Register for an account. For this, you should give your PAN/Aadhaar number as the user ID and Password.

Step 3: Select the e-file choice.

Step 4: From the e-file menu, select “Income tax returns.”

Step 5: Select, “See Field Returns.”

Step 6: Examine the most recent ITR submitted.

Step 7: To view the ITR file’s status, select “View Details.”

Step 1: Sign in to the e-filing portal.
Step2: Pre-verify the Demat account number
Step 3: Select the option to e-verify using demat account details and generate an OTP by clicking the e-verify link.
Step 4:The registered mobile number receives EVC.
Step 5: On the e-filing portal, type EVC. Returns for income taxes are checked.
