The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for feature mobile phones was made available a few months ago by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), enabling users of feature phones to participate in digital transactions. More than 40 crore feature phone users can use the widespread online payment system with UPI 123PAY even if they don’t have internet access.
Customers can use one of four methods to complete a wide range of digital transactions with their feature phones through the 123PAY service. Utilizing an IVR (interactive voice response) system, using an app on a feature phone, relying on a missed call strategy, and using proximity sound to make a payment are some of these methods.
To use 123PAY, follow these steps to create a UPI ID:
- From your feature phone, dial the IVR number (080 4516 3666, 080 4516 3581, or 6366 200 200) with the mobile number associated with your bank account. On the IVR call, say the name of the bank whose account you want to register for UPI banking.
- All of the chosen bank’s accounts will be displayed. Choose the account you want.
- After that, the user is asked to enter their UPI PIN. You can generate your UPI PIN in just a few simple steps. Enter the OTP you received from the bank and the last six numbers on your bank debit card. You will be able to create a 4- to 6-digit UPI PIN for your account once these data have been verified.
- You can skip the previous step of setting up your UPI PIN if you already have one for the particular account.
- The connected bank account serves as the basis for the creation of a user profile.
- Customers can begin using the 123PAY service to make digital payments using the IVR number function on their feature phones after completing the aforementioned procedures.
