On Vijay Sethupathi’s request, Shah Rukh Khan delivered the iconic dialogue from Om Shanti Om.
Shah Rukh Khan is called King Khan for a reason. It is not just because of his acting skills but also because of his charismatic personality. The superstar often shares kind words or advice with his fans. With his latest pan-India release Jawan shattering the box office records worldwide, the makers organised a special post-release press conference at Yash Raj Studios. In attendance were Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Atlee, Anirudh Ravichander and others. During the course of the event, Vijay Sethupathi requested King Khan to recite the iconic dialogue from Om Shanti Om.
After requesting Shah Rukh Khan to deliver the ‘Picture Abhi Baaki Hai’ dialogue, Vijay Sethupathi said, “Because I love that scene Sir. That scene gives me a lot of hope. Not only me but whoever watches it.” Obliging him, Shah Rukh Khan went ahead, “I was a little tipsy in the scene so the voice is a bit different. Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai. Ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai.”
Pointing at Deepika Padukone, SRK continued, “Aap sab ne mujhe meri Mohabbat se mujhe Mila Diya. Thanks. Thanks very much. Something… Something… Something… Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.” The crowd screamed in excitement and unison and Deepika Padukone blushed.
Meanwhile, speaking of Jawan’s budget, Atlee said, “I narrated the film on a Zoom call during Covid times. I know theatrical footfall was going down and people were not ready to greenlight even a 30-40 crore film. I know because I am also a producer. But sir [Shah Rukh Khan] greenlighted a Rs 300 cr film when everyone was skeptical. But we didn’t stop at Rs 300 cr. We went more. We made a blockbuster in three days and now, we are flying.”
Even eight days after its release, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan has refused to slow down at the box office. The film continues to earn in double digits and is now inching close to Rs 400 crore mark. As reported by the industry tracker Sacnilk, early estimates suggest that Jawan earned Rs 19.50 crore on Thursday, September 14. With this, the film’s total collection stands at Rs 388.72 crore. It has become the best-ever Hindi opener at the global box office and in the domestic market too. The film also holds the record of highest single-day earner of all time.
