Sooraj Pancholi opens up on his current relationship and Jiah Khan’s case.
Sooraj Pancholi got candid about whether he discussed Jiah Khan’s case with his current girlfriend.
Back in 2013, when Jiah Khan died, a six-page suicide note purportedly penned by her was recovered. The letter narrated her “intimate relationship, physical abuse, and mental and physical torture” allegedly at the hands of Sooraj which let her to take the decision. Post which, Sooraj Pancholi was mired in controversies and it was only in 2023, this year that he was given a clean chit in the case almost after 10 years. The actor who also recently admitted that he is in a relationship with someone, shared whether he discussed the case with them.
During a conversation with Siddarth Kannan, the actor was asked about Sheezan Khan, who was previously arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of his co-star Tunisha Sharma, the actor made it clear that media trials doesn’t determine or make one ‘vary of love’, “I don’t think so, I believe in love. I have fallen in love even after that (Jiah Khan case),” he stated.
The actor went on to add that in his current relationship, they didn’t discuss about the Jiah Khan case. He revealed, “Not so long, but I have been in a relationship, just not that long. We have never spoken about it (his past). There is no need to… That’s why everyone looks for a partner, right?”
It was earlier this year when a special CBI court acquitted actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was accused of abetting the suicide of his then-girlfriend and actor Jiah Khan, citing ‘paucity of evidence’. On June 3, 2013, Jiah was found dead at her Juhu home in Mumbai. She was 25. Based on a letter seized a week later, purportedly written by her, Mumbai Police had booked Sooraj under section 306 (abetment to suicide) and arrested him. He was later released on bail.
In one of his earlier interviews, Sooraj Pancholi had revealed that Jiah Khan was his shortest relationship. He had also spilled beans on his current relationship status. While speaking with ETimes, Sooraj Pancholi shared, “I think my relationship with Jiah was probably the shortest relationship I have had. After that, I have been in one relationship and it’s been about seven years now, and it is beautiful. There’s nothing in the world that can match up to the feeling of being in love, being taken care of, and doing the same for the other person. For me, this relationship it’s very personal because many have judged me unfairly as a bad lover or partner, but only those close to me know how I am. The general perception is misconstrued.”
He also suggested that he might get married to this person in a few years. Sooraj stated, “She is not an actress and hence, I wouldn’t want to divulge her identity. Besides, I prefer to keep my relationship private because so much about me is out there already.”
