Sony leaks the free PS plus games for August 2021.

Sony accidentally leaks the free PlayStation Plus games for August 2021 ahead of schedule through an update on its own website.

When it comes to the free PlayStation Plus games, Sony usually waits to announce them on the last Wednesday of each month. All signs point to the free PlayStation Plus games for August 2021 being no exception, as it was expected that Sony was going to pull the curtain back on the full lineup on Wednesday, July 28.

However, it seems someone at Sony jumped the gun, updating the website prematurely and leaking the free PS Plus games for August 2021 ahead of time.

Sony has fixed its error, but the cat’s out of the bag. Unless something changes between now and July 28, the free PS Plus games for August 2021 will be Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, Tennis World Tour 2, and the previously announced Hunter’s Arena: Legends. Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville and Tennis World Tour 2 are the free PS4 PS Plus games for August 2021, whereas Hunter’s Arena: Legends is the PS5 offering.

Again, it’s possible that something will change before Sony makes the official announcement, though that seems unlikely. For now, it’s safe for PlayStation Plus subscribers to count on these three games as being the free PS Plus games for August 2021.

This is the first month in a long time that PS Plus subscribers have learned of the next month’s free PS Plus games so early. While Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville and Tennis World Tour 2 were accidentally leaked by Sony, it purposefully confirmed Hunter’s Arena: Legends as one of the free PS Plus games weeks ago.

During the latest PlayStation State of Play event, Sony revealed the official release date for the Hunter’s Arena: Legends battle royale and confirmed that it would be making its debut as a free PS Plus game on both PS4 and PS5.

In any case, PS Plus subscribers don’t have to wait all that long to claim these games for their collection. All three of these titles should be free to claim through PS Plus starting Tuesday, August 3.

And while fans wait for that day to roll around, they can still claim the free PS Plus games for July 2021 in the meantime. The free PS Plus games for July 2021 include A Plague Tale: Innocence on PS5, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds on PS4.

There’s an additional free game that PS Plus subscribers can claim if they act before August 3 as well. One of the free PS Plus games for June 2021 is still available in the form of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Edition, with it being one of the free PS Plus games that Sony decided to give away for a two month period for whatever reason.
