Alia and Sobhita are likely to share the screen in Jigra.
There are speculations that Sobhita Dhulipala might be seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra with Alia Bhatt.
National Award-winning actress Alia Bhatt recently announced her upcoming movie with director Vasan Bala titled Jigra. Alia Bhatt is not just playing the lead in the film but is also producing it with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Now, the recent buzz around the film is that Sobhita Dhulipala has been roped in for a key role in the film.
This speculation arose after netizens noticed that Alia followed Sobhita back on Instagram recently. Another post surfaced on the microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, claiming that Sobhita Dhulipala is on board for Alia Bhatt’s Jigra.
Earlier, Alia spoke to Film Companion about Jigra and said, “I believe stories are everywhere, and stories are everything! I turned producer with Eternal Sunshine to tell some of these stories, ones that evoke emotions and leave an impact. Our first production, Darlings, got so much love that it was exciting and overwhelming at the same time.”
“Just a little over a year later, we are ready to launch our second production – Jigra, a beautiful story of courage, passion and determination. I hope to consistently support compelling narratives that are authentic, and enduringly timeless and work with brilliant creative minds to bring them alive,” she added.
Earlier this month, Alia announced Jigra with its first look video which begins with a quote by GK Chesterton flashing on the screen. The quote reads, “The paradox of courage is that one must be a little careless of life in order to keep it.” The video then proceeds to show Alia with a bag on her shoulder. She is standing in the streets of what seems to be Japan.
Jigra will be released in cinemas on September 27, 2024.
