Skoda Vision 7S electric SUV concept interior previewed

Three-row Vision 7S concept will be the first model to use Skoda’s upcoming new design language.

Skoda has released the first interior sketch of its Vision 7S concept which previews the brands upcoming design language and also showcases some very interesting and innovative interior ideas in line, the company says with its Simply Clever philosophy.

  • Skoda Vision 7S interior gets two different modes
  • Offers a mix of digital controls and haptic buttons

Skoda Vision 7S: interior previews new design language

The sketch shows a spacious interior with room for up to seven passengers with the most distinct feature visible being the prominent centre console that stretches from the front all the way to the third row with a uniquely integrated child seat in the center, which, Skoda says, is the safest place in a vehicle.

The dashboard has a minimalist and an upright design, with a large touchscreen infotainment system and apart from touch controls, Skoda has placed an emphasis on haptic controls, which appear on the steering wheel, centre console and even the door panels. The company says there’s an optimally positioned hand rest to interact with all of the controls.

Also visible in the sketch are seats that are prominently curved to cocoon their occupants. Ambient lighting also features, activating when people are getting in and out of the car. It’s also used to indicate the EV’s charging status. The backrests of the seats in the second and third rows feature mounts for multimedia devices and also contain integrated backpacks.

Skoda Vision 7S: interior offers two different configurations

Skoda says the Vision 7S concept can be setup to offer two distinct interior configurations; Driving and Relaxing. The driving configuration sets the controls in their most ideal position for easy and safe operation while the central touchscreen is vertically aligned and displays all relevant driving information. Relax mode on the other hand is available when charging or stopping for a rest. It moves the steering wheel and instrument cluster forward and away from the driver while the first and second row seats move back for a comfortable seating position and maximum space.

Head of ŠKODA Design, Oliver Stefani, says “With our new design language, we are taking the next step and placing even greater emphasis on the customer experience.”
