Skoda Kodiaq Armoured: what’s different
As the name suggests, the Kodiaq Armoured features bullet-resistant glass, reinforced steel, emergency strobe lights and extensive modifications to the passenger cell. These upgrades, Skoda claims, can help the Kodiaq survive over 200 rounds of ammunition and explosions to the underbody, side and roof.
Skoda says that the Kodiaq Armoured can withstand fire from handguns, grenades and high explosives. Apart from strobe lights on the grille, bumper and tailgate, the SUV looks quite similar to the standard model.
The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment has been transformed into a “communications hub”, with GPS and special controls for the emergency lights and siren system. It also has uprated suspension and brakes to try and retain the agility of the standard SUV. All four wheels come with a tyre retention system that prevents the tyre from leaving the rim even when being fully deflated. Powertrain choices have been carried over as is.
Although the Kodiaq Armoured is not likely to come to India, the all-new Kodiaq is expected to go on sale sometime next year.
