Even before Siddharth could address the media and talk about his films, he had to walk out of the press conference.

Actor Siddharth was promoting his upcoming movie ‘Chikku’ on Thursday, September 28 in Bengaluru when members of an alleged pro-Kannada group disrupted the event and created a ruckus. Reportedly, they stopped the event midway and asked the actor to cancel it. As reported by the news agency ANI, the members told Siddharth that it is not the ‘right time’ for him to promote his movie as Karnataka is battling over the Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu.

As a result, even before Siddharth could address the media and talk about his films, he had to walk out of the press conference.

A video of the incident has also surfaced on social media. In the video, the members of pro-Kannada group can be seen protesting against the event. While Siddharth remain seated calmly in the beginning, he then stood up, thanked everyone with folded hands and walked out. Watch it here:

For the unversed, the protest comes days after the Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) recommended the Karnataka government to release 3,000 cusecs (cubic feet per second) of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu for 18 days. This left the Karnataka government disappointed and the ruling Congress has now decided to challenge the order in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, talking about Siddharth’s movie Chikku, it is helmed by SU Arun Kumar and is said to be an intense family drama. Reportedly, the film is about a man who is doing all he could to find his lost niece. Siddharth is not just playing the lead in the film but is also producing it. Chikku will hit theatres on September 28, 2023.
