Varun Dhawan took home the Best Actor Award in the Popular Choice category at the Showsha Reel Awards 2024.
Varun Dhawan emerged as one of the biggest winners of Showsha Reel Awards 2024. The Bollywood actor won the award for his stellar performance in director Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal. The film also starred Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. Varun was present at the awards show to receive the award. The actor gave a moving acceptance speech. For the grand night, Varun Dhawan handpicked a dapper outfit and had heads turning.
Bawaal released in July 2023. The film brought together Varun and Janhvi for the first time. The story of Bawaal revolves around Ajay Dixit, a regular high school history teacher also known as Ajju Bhaiya, who has gained local fame due to the false persona that he has constructed. Unexpected circumstances force him to travel around Europe, tracing the trail of World War II and is compelled to bring along his newlywed wife Nisha.
Critics and fans lauded Varun Dhawan’s performance in the film. Bawaal had skipped the theatrical release and was directly streamed on Amazon Prime Video. The film was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in collaboration with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari’s Earthsky Pictures.
