Shalini Ushadevi Directorial Ennennum Receives Standing Ovation At IFKK –

Ennennum is a story that is set in a fictional world.

The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFKK) is held every year in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This film festival started in 1996 and is hosted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. The festival is held in November or December every year and is acknowledged as one of the leading cultural events in India. This year as well, there were a number of films that were screened and they impressed the audience a lot. One such film was Ennennum, which was directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker Shalini Ushadevi. According to reports, the film has even received a long-standing ovation from the crowd after the screening, for its story and performances. The film was screened in the Malayalam category.

Ennennum is a story that is set in a fictional world. The leads of the film, Auzo and Devi, are a young couple who are debating whether or not they should accept the offer of the parties to become immortal or choose a natural life that leads to death. A company has been selling them an immortality policy. While Auzo is fine with this policy, Devi is sceptical of infinity and eternity. At the same time, Auzo’s elder brother falls ill and has to choose death unwillingly. This creates a lot of confusion in their lives, and then they find a loophole in the immortality policy.

In the film, Anoop Mohandas plays the character of Auzo, while Santhy Balachandran plays the role of Devi. Apart from them, the film also has Ajithlal Sivalal, Anumol, Sudeep Joshi, Sithara Vijayan, Gibin Gopinath, and Bilas in important roles. The cinematography of the film is done by Sreekanth Sivaswamy and the music is by Rex Vijayan.

The film was produced by Shalini Ushadevi herself. Shalini Ushadevi’s debut film was the 2011 film Akam. In 2022, she won the National Award for the Best Screenplay for her work on Soorarai Pottru, which was directed by Sudha Kongara. Currently, she is working on a crime drama that will be released on Netflix.
