Shalini Passi, art collector and philanthropist, reveals her music teacher’s candid reaction to her singing on Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
Shalini Passi, a prominent art collector and philanthropist, recently revealed her music teacher’s less-than-enthusiastic response to her singing performance on Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. Shalini joined the latest season of the popular show as a new cast member, alongside other additions like Riddhima Sahni, Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, and Kalyani Chawla. With her unique style, dramatic wardrobe, and impressive art-filled home, Shalini quickly caught the attention of viewers, winning over fans with her vibrant personality.
Throughout the season, Shalini opened up about her background in dance and music, showcasing her singing skills in a few memorable scenes. However, her music teacher was not thrilled with her performance. In one episode, Shalini sang “Mitwa,” and in another lighthearted moment, she was seen singing to a giraffe. Reflecting on her teacher’s reaction in an interview with MissMalini, Shalini shared, “For the singing shot, my sir told me that you have not been practicing. You have had no time post-COVID. My students go to Indian Idol. You cannot sing. He told me, ‘Madam, I am a respected person. My students go to Indian Idol. You can’t be singing in this voice without any rehearsals.’”
Despite the mixed feedback from her teacher, Shalini has received an outpouring of support from fans who admire her daring and lively persona. “The kind of love that I am getting is something else. Like people are saying ‘we want to be like you, we love what you do, we love your singing,’” Shalini said, still surprised by the positive reactions. “I am like, ‘What?’ They are like the giraffe would have come.” Adding a playful note, she quipped, “The giraffe was actually almost there.”
Shalini Passi has emerged as an internet favourite ever since she made her on-screen debut with Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. She’s given a motivation poster-worthy quote in almost every episode. While we’ve learnt so much about her through the Netflix show, not many might know much about her husband, Sanjay Passi. To begin with, Sanjay is an acclaimed businessman.
The couple got married in the late 1990s and have a son named Robin. The family reportedly stays in a massive 20,000 sq ft house in Golf Links, in New Delhi. The house has 14 rooms. Following their wedding, Shalini became an art collector and fashion figure in the capital. As the show has already shown, she also involves herself in multiple activities.
According to Hindustan Times, Shalini has been a member of the Khoj Advisory Board for for years now. She is also an important part of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. If that wasn’t all, Shalini also participates in several philanthropy work that helps underprivileged children in Delhi. Shalini has also been friends with Gauri Khan even before she married Shah Rukh Khan and moved to Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
