Netizens wonder if Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is similar to the 1989 Tamil movie Thaai Naadu.

A viral post has claimed that Atlee has copied the plotline of a 1989 Tamil film Thaai Naadu for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has ruling hearts, headlines and box office ever since its release. While the Atlee directorial is being loved for its cast, plot and top-notch action sequences, a viral post on the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter) has now left everyone shocked. The post claims that Atlee has copied the plotline of a 1989 Tamil film Thaai Naadu for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Thaai Naadu was released in 1989 and starred Sathyaraj in a double role, similar to SRK’s father and son in Jawan. It was directed by R. Aravindraj. Sharing the poster of the 1989 Tamil movie, the social media user wrote, “Jawaan Original Tamil Version – 1989.” Check out here:

Reportedly, this is not the first time that Atlee has been accused of copying. Filmmaker’s 2019 movie Bigil had also landed in a controversy after Telugu short-filmmaker Nandi Chinni Reddy accused Atlee of plagiarising his movie Slum Soccer. Prior to this, another Atlee movie in 2017 also faced accusations for copying the story of Rajinikanth starrer Moondru Mugam.

Talking about Jawan, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Ridhi Dogra and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles. Deepika Padukone also plays an extended cameo in the movie. Earlier today, Shah Rukh Khan took to the microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter and thanked fans for showering immense love on his movie. “Thank you for all the love and appreciation for #Jawan!! Stay safe and happy… Please keep sending in the pics and videos of all of you enjoying at the movies…. And I will be back soon to see all of them! Until then… Party with Jawan in the theatres!! Lots of love and gratitude!” he wrote.

Jawan broke all records by earning over Rs 75 crore nett in India on day 1 for all languages. It then collected Rs 53 crore on day 2. This means that the film’s total collection stands close to Rs 128 crore as of now.
