Shah Rukh Khan confirmed his involvement in Sujoy Ghosh’s film at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival.
Shah Rukh Khan was recently celebrated at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where he was honored with the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera Award. The accolade was bestowed upon the Bollywood icon in recognition of his immense contributions to cinema. Shah Rukh made a special trip to Switzerland to accept this honor, marking a significant moment in his illustrious career.
During the festival, King Khan also engaged in a live session, where he confirmed his involvement in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film ‘King’. Reflecting on the challenges of action films, Shah Rukh shared that he will be undergoing a weight loss regimen to prepare for the demanding action sequences. “Action is difficult, you have to practice it learn it and there are doubles doing some of the dangerous stunts. I have some wonderful guys. But 80% you have to finally do it yourself if you have to sell it truthfully. Otherwise, it doesn’t look right,” he explained.
He humorously added that while he might look cool on screen, the reality of being tied up and sore after filming is far from glamorous, “The next film I’m doing, King, I have to start working on my film King. Have to lose some weight a little, stretch a little so my groin doesn’t get caught while doing action. It is painful. It’s the worst thing to see me on sets after action because I look really cool in the film but I’m all tied up and suddenly you see people and send flying kisses.”
While accepting the Pardo Alla Carriera Award, Shah Rukh charmed the audience of 8,000 with his wit, joking about the difficulty in pronouncing the name of the award. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you all for welcoming me with such wide arms – wider than the ones I do on screen.”
Acknowledging the heat of the Swiss summer, he quipped, “It’s a very beautiful, very cultural, very artistic, and extremely hot city of Locarno. So many people stuffed up in a little square and so hot. It’s just like being home in India.”
Shah Rukh also spoke passionately about the power of cinema, describing it as “the most profound and influential artistic medium of our age.” He emphasized that art transcends boundaries and should come from the heart, expressing its truth without the need for political, polemical, or moral undertones. He explained, “I truly believe cinema has been the most profound and influential artistic medium of our age. I’ve had the privilege of being part of this for many years, and this journey has taught me a few lessons.”
“Art is the act of affirming life above all. It goes beyond every man-made boundary into a space of liberation. It need not be political. It need not be polemical. It need not sermonize. It need not intellectualize. It need not moralize. Art and cinema only need to say what it feels from the heart, to express its own truth. And that, to me, is the biggest creativity, honestly,” SRK concluded.
