Prabhas to star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit
Sandeep Reddy Vanga tackled the question regarding feeling the pressure for his next directorial Spirit with Prabhas.
Prabhas is all set to star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. As per reports, the actor will begin shooting in December 2024. The big update was given by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Ahead of that, the film-maker who recently delivered a massive blockbuster with Animal talked about whether he is feeling the pressure regarding box office numbers with Spirit. He also revealed the apt film budget for a mega star like Prabhas.
Speaking with Galatta Plus, when asked how he deals with box office expectations regarding Spirit, especially when it is Prabhas’s 25th film. Sandeep Reddy Vanga explained, “Frankly, I am not thinking about that. Genuinely, I am not thinking about that. Because I never thought about that for Animal also. I am actually worried about what I am writing, how it is going to be executed and the way I am visualising, whether I am going to achieve it or not on the screen. I think that is the most painful process i.e. what you write and what you achieve. Rest, it will fall in place if the material is correct. If you take the pressure, you’ll do the same thing you did in the previous film. It will not work.”
He added, “I think it is a very made up thing to think about the pressure. Because the pressure is, there is a lot of money riding on the film because it’s a heavy budget film compared to Animal, Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy. Producer is going to put 300+ crores. So whether he is going to recover that money, that is the one thing that I always look into. The producer should make money and then we can make another film. And second thing is that I am visualising the film in a particular way. All the while in 24 films, people have seen Prabhas in very different roles. So if this match is going to work, if the actor is getting the character right then we’ll see how much percentage of people would love or hate it.”
Baradwaj Rangan asked the director if Rs 300 crore for a big movie and a big star is a viable budget today in Telugu cinema, Sandeep replied, “It depends on the star. I think for Prabhas Garu, it’s a valid budget.”
During the pre-release event of Vishwak Sen’s Gaami, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga gave an interesting update about his next film Spirit. He revealed that the shooting of Spirit will start sometime at the end of 2024. This statement from the sensational director was met with hoots and cheers from the members at the event. The news has raised the excitement level among the fans. Pinkvilla also mentioned in its report that Prabhas is set to play the role of an angry young cop. The film will be in Sandeep’s style, with no compromise on violence. Production designer Suresh Selvarajan had also revealed earlier that Prabhas’ Spirit will be much bigger and grander than Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. The film will be bankrolled by Kabir Singh and Animal producer Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series banner.
