The much-awaited trailer for the upcoming film Sam Bahadur has been released and quite appreciated by the audience. The trailer launch event took place at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi and was attended by General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff. The film stars Vicky Kaushal as the renowned army officer Sam Manekshaw. It also features Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in significant roles. Post-launch, Sanya shared some exclusive glimpses from the event with all her followers.
Sanya Malhotra shared some stills from the trailer launch event in Delhi on her Instagram stories. The first snap shows Vicky Kaushal dressed in a blue suit and looking up at the portrait of Sam Manekshaw. The following still features Vicky, along with Sanya, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and the director, Meghna Gulzar, posing in front of the portrait. Subsequently, she also shares a short clip depicting the moment when the team inaugurated the trailer with General Manoj Pande on stage.
Sam Bahadur delves into the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, highlighting his sacrifices for the country. The film is a moving tribute to his unflinching tenacity and sharp wit. Sam Manekshaw’s career in the Indian army spanned four decades and five conflicts. He was the first general in the Indian Army to be appointed to the rank of Field Marshal.
The trailer hints that the film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-pak war where Sam Manekshaw played a pivotal role. Vicky Kaushal aces the role to the core and is seen giving a fierce talk to his fellow army men, including then prime minister, Indira Gandhi, played by Fatima Sana Sheikh.
Sanya Malhotra is seen as Silloo, the wife of the brave army officer. Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick (as Lord Mountbatten), Richard Bhakti Klein (as Ambassador Keating), Saqib Ayub (as Captain Attiqur Rahman), and Krishna Kant Singh Bundela (as Subedar Gurbaksh Singh) will also be seen in the film Sam Bahadur.
Speaking about the challenges he faced while preparing for this role during the launch event, Vicky Kaushal said, “Jab bhi Indian Army ki uniform peheni hoti hai na toh pehle jo responsibility ka ehsaas hota hai ki aap isko halke main nahi le sakte. Yeh aapko bohot shiddat ke saath, bohot sincerity ke saath aur bohot honesty ke saath nibhaana hoga [When you wear the Indian Army’s uniform, you feel a responsibility towards it and cannot take it lightly. You have to do it with utmost sincerity and honesty].”
Sam Bahadur is written by Bhavani Iyer, Shantanu Shrivastava, and Meghna Gulzar and is being produced under the banner of RSVP Movies. The period film is shot in Punjab, Kashmir, and Delhi, among other places, and is slated to release on December 1.
