The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 will join the Super Meteor, updated Interceptor and Continental GT in the company’s 650cc portfolio.
Royal Enfield has been testing a bunch of new motorcycles of late and spy shots of the same have been surfacing online consistently. The latest picture is that of the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650, and this test machine seems to be wearing a set of accessories.
- New headlight grille and flyscreen
- Aux lights positioned below the turn indicators
- 648cc, parallel-twin engine shared with the Interceptor/Continental GT
Royal Enfield Scrambler 650: details
A quick look at this particular test mule reveals what looks like a set of accessories on the bike. The list includes a grille that covers the LED headlight, which was first seen on the Super Meteor 650 and the recently refreshed Interceptor and Continental GT 650s. There’s a dark fly screen that sits above the headlight, while a set of auxiliary lights are positioned below the turn indicators. One can also spot a metal bash plate under the engine that may or may not be an accessory.
The rest of the bike looks pretty similar to the Scrambler 650 test mules that have been spotted in the past. The bike seems to be based on the Interceptor 650, with the frame suspended by an USD fork and preload-adjustable twin shocks. The suspension travel appears to be longer than that of the Interceptor’s units and the Scrambler should also benefit from higher ground clearance. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels shod with dual purpose tyres.
As far as the engine is concerned, it will be the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that you see in the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The 47.6hp and 52Nm peak power outputs should also be the same, however, a slight change in tune and possible sprocket size change can be expected given the Scrambler application of the bike.
