Risk intelligence firm Shield launches India engineering centre, to invest $50 million over three years

Pune: Global risk intelligence firm Shield said that it would invest up to $50 million in its Indian operations over the next three years. The Singapore headquartered company officially announced its expansion into India with the launch of its engineering centre in Bengaluru.

“It’s an exciting time to be here—the country is undergoing massive digital transformation and is building an extremely vibrant innovation ecosystem. India is home to trailblazers in tech, and we’re thrilled to be part of their journey to continue disrupting the tech industry,” said Justin Lie, Founder and CEO at Shield. The company already works with companies like ShareChat, Moj and Carandbike in India and will now strengthen its presence in the country.

Deepak Kumar, VP-engineering, Shield, said that they would initially hire about 100 engineers for the centre and look to double this by the end of 2023. “You can find some of the world’s finest technology and entrepreneurial talent here. Our plans to launch an office here is testament to India’s talented engineering workforce and strongly supports our growth strategy in India. The engineering hub will play a significant role in helping us stay ahead of the innovation curve,” he said.

The expansion is part of the company’s plans to expand its global engineering capabilities. The India centre will work closely with Shield’s other centres and work across the product development ecosystem. Shield has expertise in mobile fraud attacks and provides businesses with real time risk intelligence.
