Recruitment startup Kula raises $2.7 million from Girish Mathrubootham’s fund, others

Chennai: Recruitment automation platform Kula on Wednesday announced that the company raised $2.7 million in funding from Venture Highway, Together Fund, and Global Founders Capital.

Kula is a recruitment platform that widens the talent pool by unifying all sources and automating the candidate outreach and engagement. The company’s focus with this infusion of funds will be on getting their product out and taking it to customers.

“The next milestone for us is to achieve around 50 customers by the end of 2021,” Achuthanand Tanjore Ravi, cofounder and CEO of Kula told ET. “We are continuing to invest in other product offerings. Currently, we only support two modules – Outreach and Circles. But in the future, we are also looking to solve problems around scheduling and the likes to create the flywheel of reducing the turnaround time in the process with regard to recruiting.”

He went on to add that while the company will cater to global markets, it will continue to have a keen eye on India. Kula already has around 30 to 35 pilot users from India.

“India is an extremely important market for us,” Achuthanand said. “Given the penetration of startups in India and because India is considered to be an engineering powerhouse, I see a very huge uptick in terms of organizations getting started out, new ideas and new products coming out. But for them to execute, talent is crucial. And we are trying to solve problems around talent management….”

Achuthanand said that one of the biggest trends today is that candidates have multiple offers in hand when they engage with organizations. Hence, employers are having trouble identifying or approaching candidates. This is where Kula steps in and focuses on attracting and solving problems around outbound recruiting.
