JLR claims the Range Rover Sport EV will feature go-anywhere capability, performance will be comparable to the V8.
The upcoming Range Rover Sport EV has been spied on test for the first time, and the images reveal the luxury e-SUV in all its glory sans camouflage.
- Range Rover Sport EV gets minor styling changes over ICE version
- Global debut later this year
Range Rover Sport EV exterior, interior design
The changes on the outside look miniscule compared to the ICE version of the Range Rover Sport, thanks to the new spy shots shared by our friends at motor.es. It gets the same slim-LED headlamps with Daytime Running Lamps and the sporty bumper. The grille is slightly different on the EV, but it looks unfinished. JLR might offer a revised grille on the Range Rover Sport EV in a bid to differentiate it from the ICE version.
The rear-end except the lack of exhausts, of course, looks unchanged. It gets the same sleek-looking wraparound LED tail-lights that are connected with a piece that will house the Range Rover badging. While the interior shots aren’t available, we expect it to carry over the ICE Sport’s cabin, except for a few minor changes.
Range Rover Sport EV platform, battery, specs
The Range Rover Sport EV will be underpinned by the same MLA platform as the upcoming Range Rover EV. The same is also used for the existing combustion models. JLR has continued to remain tight-lipped about the performance figures for its upcoming EVs. However, the brand has claimed that the upcoming Range Rover Sport EV will feature go-anywhere capability, and the performance will be comparable to the V8.
The battery specifications are also still unknown, but we do know that all the models will have 800V charging hardware. This will enable charging speeds of up to 270kW for rapid top-ups.
Range Rover Sport EV launch timeline, price
The Range Rover Sport EV is expected to be unveiled later this year. It will be the second of six new JLR EVs to arrive in international markets by 2026. The Range Rover Sport EV could be pricier than the ICE version, which is currently priced at Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom).
