Ranbir Kapoor listed his top three all-time favourite movies and this Salman Khan film made the cut.
Ranbir Kapoor made a rare statement about Salman Khan during his interaction with fans. The actor was seen talking to a group of fans in a Zoom chat, answering numerous questions about his work, personal life and films in general. During the interaction, a fan asked Ranbir what his top three films are. Ranbir named one movie of each Khan. He began his list by naming Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which recently completed 28 years. He then named a film starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.
“Top three all-time (favourite films) are Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and then Rang De Basanti… We have one Shah Rukh film and one Aamir film, now I’ll mention one Salman’s film as well,” he said, before naming Bhajrangi Bhaijaan. Besides sharing his list of favourite movies, Ranbir was also all praise for Allu Arjun for his performance in Pushpa.
At the time of the recording, Ranbir had not met the Telugu star but admitted he loved the freshness Allu Arjun brought to the role in Pushpa. “I haven’t met Allu Arjun, I have met his father, Allu Aravind, once but I haven’t met Arjun yet. But I am a big fan of him. I really, really liked Pushpa and I think his performance was so fresh. Although we have seen such characters in the films but he brought a newness to the character, I really liked it,” Ranbir said.
On the work front, Ranbir is gearing for the release of Animal. The film is directed by Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga and it marks his first collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Anil Kapoor. Speaking about the film during the same chat with fans, Ranbir said, “For Animal, I had shaved my hair! For the last scene, I had done that.”
“Working with Sandeep has been such an enriching experience for me as an actor because he is so original. There is nothing referenced in his films. Everything I was doing in Animal as that character was so new. This is the darkest film I have done, because I am not playing any psycho killer in it. It is just the character, his mind and the way he operates… His psyche is very dark,” he added.
