In his latest post, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma slammed Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun’s arrest. He drew a comparison to an incident during the filming of Sridevi starrer Kshana Kshanam.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal has slammed Allu Arjun’s arrest in Pushpa 2 stampede case. Although Allu Arjun was initially sent to 14-day judicial custody, he was later granted interim bail for four weeks. In his latest post, Ram Gopal Varma urged celebrities to strongly protest against Allu Arjun’s arrest, questioning whether it is a crime for any celebrity to be enormously popular. He drew a parallel to a past incident involving Sridevi, arguing against holding celebrities responsible for crowd-related tragedies.
Reacting to Allu Arjun’s arrest in connection with a woman’s death at Pushpa 2 premiere, Ram Gopal Varma wrote, “Every STAR should STRONGLY protest against @alluarjun‘s ARREST because for any celebrity whether it’s a FILM STAR or a POLITICAL STAR , is it a crime for them to be ENORMOUSLY POPULAR???” He then drew a parallel between Pushpa 2 stampede incident, and a similar tragedy involving late actress Sridevi. He questioned whether the police will now go to heaven to arrest the late actress. “3 people died in the lakhs of crowd who came to see SRIDEVI in the shooting of my film KSHANA KSHANAM ..So will the #TelanganaPolice now go to #HEAVEN to ARREST #sridevi ???” wrote Ram Gopal Varma.

For the unversed, Kshana Kshanam is a 1991 Telugu film. Written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film starred Venkatesh, Sridevi, Paresh Rawal and Rami Reddy.
A tragic incident occurred on December 4, during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where thousands of fans had gathered to see Allu Arjun at the premiere of Pushpa 2. A 35-year-old woman died in the chaos, while her son sustained critical injuries. Following the incident, a case was registered against Allu Arjun, his security team and theatre management, based on a complaint from the woman’s family. Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13. However, he was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court, and was released on the morning of December 14.
