Radhika Apte flaunted her baby bump in pictures from her maternity photoshoot. The actress, who welcomed her child over a week ago, revealed that she struggled to embrace how she looked at the time.
Radhika Apte and Benedict Taylor welcomed their first child recently. A few days ago, the actress posted a picture in which she was seen breastfeeding her one-week-old baby. Now, she has finally opened up about her pregnancy, and revealed that the pregnancy came as a shock. She also shared pictures from her maternity photoshoot with Vogue, revealing that during her pregnancy, she struggled to embrace how she looked.
While speaking with Vogue, Radhika Apte said that she knew she was pregnant from the moment she conceived, and also started telling people the very next day. “It’s such a stupid story, really. I don’t want to make it public, but let’s just say it’s funny how it happened—it wasn’t an accident, but we also weren’t trying. And it still came as a shock,” said the Sacred Games actress. She shared pictures from her maternity photoshoot with Vogue, and revealed that she posed for the photos a week before giving birth to her child.
Radhika Apte reveals her body looks different again after giving birth
“Truth is, I struggled to embrace how I looked at the time. I had never seen myself put on so much weight. My body was swollen, I had shooting pains in my pelvis, and the lack of sleep had skewed my perspective on everything. Now, not even two weeks into motherhood, my body looks different again,” shared Radhika. However, after giving birth, she realized that there are new challenges, and a different perspective has set in. She now looks at the pictures with much kinder eyes, and feels bad about being so hard on herself. Radhika Apte said that she can now see only beauty in the changes, and knows that she will cherish these photos forever.
Radhika Apte on ‘tough parts’ of pregnancy
Further, Radhika Apte also spoke about how challenging pregnancies can be. “Most women I know have had tough pregnancies, and honestly, it’s like menopause or your period—those hormones are no joke,” she said. She further added that while people openly talk about how awful periods and menopause are, pregnancy gets a ‘glow treatment’, and she finds it absurd that no one talks about the challenging parts of it.
Radhika Apte then said that she plans to stay in London until the end of February after which she will fly back to India and resume work. On the professional front, Radhika Apte was last seen in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas, in which she had a cameo appearance. She will next be seen in ‘Sister Midnight’.
