Pushpa 2 midnight shows banned in Bengaluru

The much-anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, is set to release on December 5, 2024. However, fans in Bengaluru may face a delay in catching the film due to a last-minute decision by the Bengaluru district collector to halt its midnight screenings.

As per a tweet by trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, the decision to cancel the midnight shows of Pushpa 2 came after the Kannada Film Producers Association filed a petition opposing them. The association argued that Kannada cinema has adhered to the tradition of releasing films no earlier than 6 am, and this precedent should not be broken for Pushpa 2.

There is also speculation that the petition was influenced by the high ticket prices for midnight and premiere screenings, which have reportedly drawn criticism. These pricing concerns might have contributed to the district collector’s decision.

While midnight shows in Bengaluru have been stopped, fans in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can rejoice. In these states, government orders have approved extra screenings, along with a ticket price hike for the highly awaited film.

Pushpa 2 continues the journey of Pushparaju, played by Allu Arjun, as he rises further in the world of red sandalwood smuggling. The first installment ended on a gripping cliffhanger, leaving audiences eager to witness Pushpa’s showdown with his nemesis, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, portrayed by Fahadh Faasil.

As excitement builds, the film’s makers have already announced a third installment titled Pushpa 3: The Rampage. Speaking about the sequel in a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the film’s dialogue writer teased that it would be “much bigger, grander, and better” than its predecessors.

The ensemble cast of Pushpa 2 also includes notable actors like Fahadh Faasil, Sunil, Jagapathi Babu, and others in pivotal roles.

Although the ban on midnight screenings has disappointed many Bengaluru fans, the film’s larger-than-life narrative and the promise of breathtaking action have ensured Pushpa 2 remains one of the year’s most awaited cinematic events.
