Pushpa 2 nears Rs 950 crore domestically on Day 12, eyes Rs 1500 crore globally. Can it dethrone Baahubali 2 and challenge Dangal?
Pushpa 2: The Rule continues its remarkable run at the box office, smashing records and redefining benchmarks for Indian cinema. Starring Allu Arjun in the iconic role of Pushpa Raj, the Sukumar directorial has crossed Rs 922 crore domestically by the end of its 12th day and is expected to inch closer to the Rs 950 crore mark by the end of the second week.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 witnessed a dip on its second Monday, with an estimated collection of Rs 20.39 crore across all languages. Despite this, the film’s overall earnings have remained strong. On its second Friday, the movie recorded its lowest domestic earnings of Rs 36.4 crore, yet even these figures outshine many recent blockbusters. The occupancy rates remain promising, with 24.11% for the Telugu version and 21.26% for the Hindi version, indicating that audiences are still flocking to cinemas, particularly for evening and night shows.
The global figures are even more impressive. Pushpa 2 has already garnered Rs 1409 crore worldwide, and by the end of Day 12, trade analysts anticipate the film will breach the Rs 1500 crore mark. This feat would place it in the elite Rs 1500-2000 crore club alongside cinematic giants like SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 and Aamir Khan’s Dangal.
Pushpa 2 has captivated audiences with its gripping storyline, electrifying performances, and chart-topping music. Allu Arjun’s portrayal of Pushpa Raj has struck a chord with fans across the globe, solidifying his status as one of India’s most bankable stars. The film has also benefited from its pan-India appeal, with strong performances across Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam markets.
As the film continues to rake in massive numbers, the big question remains: Can Pushpa 2 dethrone Baahubali 2, the reigning box-office champion, and inch closer to the Rs 2000 crore mark set by Dangal? With its incredible momentum and overwhelming audience support, Pushpa 2 could very well rewrite history in Indian cinema.
