Pumpkin Seeds To Green Veggies, 5 Superfoods That May Reduce Risk Of Cancer In Women –

Women must take care of their diet to ward off diseases.

Every woman should drink milk daily as it is the required protein for bones.

Breast Cancer is the most common among women. Not only this, women are also prone to other types of cancers. Women often ignore their health, owing to a hectic schedule in their daily life. Lifestyle plays a critical role in development of certain cancers. Researchers have linked smoking, oestrogen exposure, heavy drinking and certain dietary patterns — including western diets which contain highly processed foods — with the increased risk of cancer. Dr Rasika Mathur, Senior Dietician, Nanavati Max Hospital, Mumbai said that in today’s generation, there are higher cases of breast cancer alongside low immunity. She advised women to consume these five food items which may lower the risk of cancer and boost immunity.

Green Veggies and Citrus Fruits

Dr Rasika Mathur said that consuming green vegetables, which contain antioxidants, do not allow cancerous cells to form in the body. Therefore, she recommended green leafy and leguminous vegetables to be consumed. Citrus fruits, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, grapes, oranges and kiwi should also be added to the diet.

Salad

The dietician also mentioned that salad should be included in every meal as it contains an adequate amount of dietary fibre, which keeps the body healthy. She also added that if someone has eaten too much sugar or oily food items then the salad helps absorb it. The fibre present in the salad will slow down digestion and help to manage the calories as well.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds have become a superfood nowadays because they contain various types of antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and all types of vitamins and minerals. According to the nutritionist, pumpkin, flax seeds, ragi, jowar, millet etc. are a treasure trove of nutrients. Along with protein, Omega-3 is also found in these ingredients which prevent several health issues.

Dairy Products

She suggested that every woman should drink milk daily as it is the required protein for the bones. If you cannot drink milk, then you can have buttermilk or curd as its substitute. If you are lactose tolerant, she advised you to have pulses two times a day.

Dry Fruits

Dry fruits play an important role in protecting women from many diseases and one may consume a handful of dry fruits every two or three days. Consuming almonds, walnuts, apricots and dates strengthens immunity and has various other health benefits.
