Priyamani said her work in Ajay Devgn headlined period film Maidan was completed within some 12 to 15 days.
After the record-breaking success of the much-awaited Atlee directorial film headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, South star and National Award-winning actress Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer or Priyamani will next be seen opposite Ajay Devgn in the period film Maidan. In a recent interview, Priyamani opened up about her “phenomenal” time shooting for Maidan. The Baahubali actress also spoke about working with Ajay Devgn and gushed about the success of her latest film Jawan.
Talking to Pinkvilla about the film, Priyamani said, “Oh it was phenomenal. See, your definition of period film and my definition could be a little different but by period this is set in the 60s but we’re not dressed like the Maharaja thing because that for me is a periodical film. Yeah, so it is set in the 60s 70s I think or 50s and 60s. It’s been phenomenal. I loved working with Ajay Sir with Amit.”
She added, “My work was done within like I think 12 to 15 days, my work was completely done. It was so nice working with Ajay Sir because Ajay Sir is one actor whose eyes also just spoke to me so much when we were shooting and I can’t wait for the film to come out. I can’t wait for people to see what’s in store when Maidaan comes out.”
Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidan is a sports drama in which Ajay will essay the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, also known as the architect of modern Indian football. The film will also mark National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh’s Bollywood debut. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, talking about working with Shah Rukh Khan for Jawan, the actress said, “He is all heart. He is a person with a magnanimous heart. He is a wonderful human being; a great personality. What stands out is the way he respects everybody, equally. Be it anybody for that matter.”
Jawan was released in cinemas on September 7 amid much anticipation. The also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone in prominent roles.
