Ponniyin Selvan Trailer Launch: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala Make Heads Turn on Red Carpet

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan trailer and audio premiered last night in Chennai, and it was an illustrious event. The red carpet was abuzz with celebrities, from Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan as chief guests to the film’s cast. In addition to Vikram and Karthi, the ensemble cast also features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prabhu. The cast arrived at the event dressed in traditional attire.

Lyca Productions took to Instagram to share photos and videos from the event, including a 360-degree video of the cast that perfectly showcased their outfits for the occasion.

In a black embroidered silk suit set, Aishwarya Rai radiated regal beauty. The gold embroidery, shimmering gota patti work, and intricate patterns on the round neckline, quarter-length sleeves kurta were paired with matching pants and a brocade silk dupatta. The statement emerald green layered necklace elevated the star’s traditional aesthetic.

Ponniyin Selvan -1 tells the story of Arul Mozhivarman (Jayam Ravi) and his ascension to the Chola kingdom’s throne in the face of a coup. The story will be told through the eyes of Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan (Karthi), a messenger for Aditya Karikalan (Vikram) who travels through the southern kingdoms to relay Chola messages. Additionally, a romance between Aditya and Queen Nandini was alluded to in the movie’s teaser (Aishwarya).

‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ is a film adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Tamil novel of the same name, which was published as a series in the 1950s. The film is co-produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
