Petrosexual: Dr Nirmal Krishnan and his love for cars

We chat with Dr Nirmal Krishnan, a consultant in reproductive medicine, about his love for cars and what he’d like to do with the last litre of fuel on Earth.

What are you driving and why?

I drive a Porsche 911 GT3 (992), a Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4, a BMW M5 Competition (F90) and a Mercedes-Benz S 320d (W222). I suppose you can say that I have one car for every occasion!

What’s next on your wish list?

If I am lucky enough, perhaps a V12-powered Ferrari.

The most fun you’ve had in a car, and where?

In my Porsche 911 GT3 on the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The car just wants you to push and your lap times are only limited by your skills.

Favourite or dream money-no-object car and why?

The Ferrari LaFerrari. A mid-engined V12 excites me like no other car would.

Who is your all time greatest motorsport hero?

Ayrton Senna, the greatest driver that lived and a great human being too. I got to know more about his charity work during my visit to Brazil.

Favourite road?

There are a lot of twisty roads in Kerala, but I love the Thamarassery Churam mountain pass in Wayanad the most.

What’s on your automotive bucket list?

I would love to enroll in a drifting school and complete all the stages. I find more fun going sideways than in a straight line nowadays!

What would you do with your last litre of fuel?

I would preserve it for my future generation and let them experience the internal combustion engine when everything becomes electrified.

Your ideal 5-car garage would be?

Porsche 911 GT3 (992), Lamborghini Huracan, BMW M5 Competition (F90), Mercedes-Benz S-class, and a V12 Ferrari like the F12 or the 812 Superfast.

What was your first car, and when?

It was a 1996 carburetted Maruti Zen.
