Pepper Content raises $14.3 million funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners


Mumbai: Pepper Content, a full-stack content marketplace that connects content creators to organisations that require content, has raised $14.3 million (Rs 110 crore) led by Bessemer Venture Partners.

The round also saw participation from Lightspeed, Tanglin Venture Partners,

Capital. Prominent angel investors including Kunal Shah (founder, CRED), Gokul Rajaram (Doordash, board member – Coinbase, Pinterest), Ritesh Agarwal (founder and CEO, OYO), Ashish Gupta (founder, Helion.vc and Board Member, ) and other angel investors also participated in the round.

Founded by Anirudh Singla and Rishabh Shekhar in 2017 at the BITS Pilani campus, Pepper Content enables marketers to connect with the writers, designers, translators, videographers, editors, and illustrators. The company builds trust by vetting the professionals in the marketplace and using its own AI algorithms to make the right match between business and creative professionals.

As we enter the next phase of our journey of revolutionising content creation across the globe, we are excited to have partners like Bessemer Venture Partners and other credible, marquee investors,” Singla and Shekhar said in a prepared statement.

Mumbai-headquartered Pepper Content in the past raised $4.2 million led by Lightspeed and angel investors including Beerud Sheth, Balaji Srinivasan, Gaurav Munjal, Aakrit Vaish, Miten Sampat, Akhil Paul, Utsav Somani, and Dilip Khandelwal.

The company will utilsie the funds to bolster its presence in the US market along with diversifying offerings to newer categories like graphic design, language translations, and video content creation. The company has grown 16x in terms of revenue in the last 14 months alone. It aims for a high double-digit ARR growth by the end of this year.

The company has also invested in building tools for its freelancers that augment their ability and makes them more productive and one of its key products Peppertype.ai.

Pepper Content has worked with over 2,500 customers, including large enterprises and organisations like

, NPS Trust, , P&G; financial services, and insurance companies such as , Cred, Groww, Mutual Fund, Tata Capital, and technology firms such as Binance, Google, and Adobe. It has a pool of 6,000-7,000 creators.
