A child will learn to love and respect others, especially their mother or father, based on how the father treats everybody.
Parenting is undeniably one of the toughest jobs, hence the saying, “It takes a village to raise a kid.” Fathers play an important role in shaping not just the personality of their children, but also affecting their attitudes, identity, self-confidence and much more. Both mother and father have certain responsibilities towards their children which include providing them with a safe and secure environment to be able to express themselves without fearing judgment. Here is how a father can affect a child’s mental development.
Safety
Children need to feel safe and it is a father’s job to make sure that the little ones are protected. This safety net helps them to concentrate better on their work and activities. They know, that if things go south, their father will be there to shield or protect them.
Unconditional Love
Every child requires unconditional love. It means no matter what their father will always have their back. Guiding or giving knowledge is not the only responsibility of a father. They are also responsible for inculcating morals and values in their children.
Love and Respect Towards Partner
A child will learn to love and respect others, especially their mother or father, based on how the father treats everybody. When the father or mother has mutual love and respect, the child will grow up with the same value system and show respect to the parents and other elders as well.
Quality Time
It is important to have quality time as a family as well as one-on-one. A child may share a different equation with their mother from what they share with their father. Hence, spending more time together is also important for the growth of a child. It makes them feel seen and heard.
Discipline
Children must be taught discipline. After all, it is the responsibility of a father to set boundaries for children and teach them what is right and what is wrong.
Let Children Take Responsibilities
As a father, allow children to take responsibilities little by little. This will make them independent and at the same time feel confident.
