The prestigious Academy Awards are here! It is that time of the year, the much awaited and iconic Academy Award or Oscar nominations are underway. Like it is every year, this time too, there are hundreds of films and documentaries which have been sent for consideration. As the world awaits with bated breath, it will be interesting to see who makes the cut in the 23 coveted categories.
The nominees for the 94th Annual Academy Awards, is being aired on ABC and many of the films in consideration were released on OTT platforms in lieu of the Covid-19 pandemic. The process of selection involves 9847 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences casting their votes on the 276 eligible films between January 27 and February 1.
Leslie Jordan, the actor known for his roles on Will & Grace and Murphy Brown, along with the black-ish actor, Tracee Ellis Ross, are announcing the nominees.
For those wondering, the leading contenders for best picture, the coveted trophy, include films like King Richard Being the Ricardos, Dune, West Side Story and The Power of the Dog, among others.
Moreover, There will be 10 movies announced as best picture nominees for the 94th Oscars on Tuesday. For the past decade, it’s been a sliding range of five to 10 nominees. Most years had eight or nine.
