Online document updation facility now free for 3 months, check details: Aadhaar News

Aadhaar news: Only the myAadhaar portal offers this free service. At physical Aadhaar centers, residents must pay a Rs 50 fee.

Aadhaar Card Update: One of today’s most important documents is Aadhaar. Aadhaar is now required to apply for most government programs, open bank accounts, and other services. Because of this, the document is even more crucial. Therefore, in order to avoid any inconvenience, it is essential to keep this document’s details current.

As a result, the government has made it possible to update Aadhaar documents online for free for three months through June 14. In the past, residents had to pay Rs 25 in order to update their Aadhaar documents.

However, it should be noted that this service is only available for free on the myAadhaar portal. This indicates that in order to update demographic information such as name, date of birth, address, etc., they will still need to pay a fee of Rs 50 at physical Aadhaar centers.

According to the official statement, “The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to allow residents to update documents in their Aadhaar online for free, a people-centric move that will benefit millions of residents…The free service is available for the next three months, i.e., March 15 to June 14, 2023.”

New documents help make life easier, improve government service, and increase the success rate of Aadhaar authentication.

Aadhaar number holders are allowed to update their supporting documents in Aadhaar at least once every ten years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar by submitting proof of identity (POI) and proof of address (POA) documents, in accordance with the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016.

According to the statement, “It is important to note that this service is free only on myAadhaar portal and will continue to attract a fee of Rs 50 at physical Aadhaar centers, as in the case earlier.”

“The UIDAI has been urging residents to upload Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) documents in order to revalidate their demographic information, particularly in cases where Aadhaar was issued ten years ago but was never updated.” This will assist in superior simplicity of living, better help conveyance and upgrades confirmation accomplishment with rating,” the assertion said.

Aadhaar-based identification is being used to provide services by nearly 1,200 government schemes and programs, many of which are run by the federal and state governments. Aadhaar is also being used by a number of other services, such as financial institutions like banks and NBFCs, to seamlessly authenticate and onboard customers.
