Now you can update your address online with head of family’s consent, check easy steps: Aadhaar Card

In addition to the existing facility for updating addresses, there is a new one:

Aadhaar Card news: With the consent of their head of family (HoF), residents of India can now update their addresses in their Aadhaar account online, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

After submitting documents indicating the names of both the applicant and HoF as well as their relationship, such as a ration card, mark sheet, marriage certificate, or passport, the new procedure can begin.

The resident can submit a self-declaration by the HOF in the UIDAI-prescribed format if a proof of relationship document is unavailable. The HOF must use OTP-based authentication for the process.

People moving to cities and towns across the country for a variety of reasons will benefit from the HoF-based online address update facility. In addition to the facility for updating addresses that is already in place, the new option lets you use any valid proof of address document that UIDAI requires.

According to a statement released by UIDAI, “Any resident above the age of 18 can be a HOF for this purpose and can share his or her address with his or her relatives through this process.”

Utilizing a HOF-based facility to update the address in Aadhaar online:

Step 1: The “My Aadhaar” portal is where residents can update their addresses online.

Step 2: The resident will be permitted to enter the HOF’s Aadhaar number. The screen will not display any other Aadhaar-related information.

Step 3: The resident will be required to upload the document proving their relationship after the Aadhaar number for HOF has been successfully validated.

Step 4: The service requires a fee of Rs 50 from residents.

Step 5: A service request number (SRN) would be given to the resident upon successful payment, and an SMS regarding the address request would be sent to the HOF.

Step 6: Within thirty days of receiving the notification, the HOF must approve the request and consent by logging into the My Aadhaar portal.

Step 7: The request would be closed if the HOF does not accept or reject it within the stipulated thirty days of the SRN’s creation.

Step 8: The resident who uses this option to update their address will receive an SMS letting them know that the request has been closed.

Step 9: The applicant will not receive a refund if the request is closed or rejected due to the HOF’s non-acceptance or during the process.
