Now use WhatsApp on your smartwatch: Here’s how

WhatsApp is now compatible with Google’s Wear OS. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, smartwatch app for WhatsApp is now available, allowing users to stay connected and access their chats and messages directly from their smartwatch.

As per the report, the feature is available to select users after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.10.10 available on the Google Play Store. Users say that the app was listed to be compatible with their smartwatch, in particular, with Wear OS.

In case you are not aware, Wear OS is an Android operating system designed for smartwatches. WaBetaInfo, in its report, says that WhatsApp’s smartwatch app includes features like chat messaging and voice messages.

It also shares a screenshot that shows a WhatsApp prompt sent to users when attempting to link their WhatsApp account to a Wear OS device.

Here’s how to download WhatsApp smartwatch app

If you are a beta tester and want to install the smartwatch app for WhatsApp, update the app to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.10.10 update from Google Play Store. When linking the smartwatch app to your WhatsApp account, an 8-digit code will appear on the watch prompting the user to enter the code on their device.

Once the code is entered, users’ chats will safely be synced across devices, allowing them to start using WhatsApp on smartwatch. It must be noted here that WhatsApp’s smartwatch app still preserves end-to-end encryption as it relies on multi-device capabilities.

As mentioned above, the ability to use WhatsApp on a smartwatch is currently available to beta testers after downloading the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. The report states that the smartwatch app seems to be unavailable for the WhatsApp Business app, even after installing the latest update.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp may soon introduce the ability to edit messages for both Android and iOS users. The feature was previously spotted in iOS beta and has now been reported for Android beta as well.
