Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Thirumalai (2003) is one of the biggest releases of the actor’s career. It became a blockbuster as soon as it was released. As per some new reports, some interesting information is making rounds on the internet related to the film. Thirumalai, a blockbuster masala entertainer released almost 20 years ago, starred Jyothika as the female protagonist. A new report is going viral on social media, according to which former actress Namrata Shirodkar was initially chosen to be the film’s female lead. The reports further claimed that the film’s director was not satisfied with Namrata’s portrayal of the lead, and instead chose Jyothika for the role. Old photos from the look test of the film, featuring Vijay and Namrata are going viral. The two actors seem to be engaged in an argument in the viral shots.

Thirumalai was released on October 24, 2003, and was made under the direction of Ramana. The cast of the film also included Manoj K Jayan, Avinash, Vivek and Raghuvaran. It was produced by Pushpa Kandaswamy, under the banner of Kavithalayaa Productions. Vidyasagar composed the music in the film, while R Rathnavelu was the cinematographer, and the editing was done by Suresh Urs. The film was a blockbuster hit, garnering positive reviews from the critics, running for more than 100 days in cinemas.

Thalapathy Vijay is currently working on his upcoming project, which is titled GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). It is being helmed by Venkat Prabhu, and stars an ensemble cast of Vijay, Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Parvati Nair, and many others. It is being made under the banner of AGS Entertainment.

Namrata Shirodkar is the wife of South superstar Mahesh Babu. They tied the knot in 2005, and are parents to a son, and a daughter. Namrata has worked in films like Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Hero Hindustani, Kachche Dhaage, and Dil Vil Pyar Vyar.
