On Tuesday, February 7, the government informed Parliament that the current Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) amount of Rs 6,000 per year for eligible beneficiary farmers has not been proposed to be increased.
According to reports in the media, the government may decide to raise the PM-KISAN scheme’s annual financial benefit for farmers to Rs 8,000. These Rs 8000 were supposed to be distributed among eligible farmers in four equal installments, according to reports.
When asked if there was a plan to increase the amount under the PM-KISAN, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar responded in writing to the Lok Sabha, “There is no such proposal at present.”
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) was established in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the intention of providing income support to all landholder farmer families in the country with cultivable land, with some exceptions.
Each year, Rs 6,000 is distributed in three equal installments of Rs 2000. The beneficiaries’ bank accounts receive this money immediately. Farmers have received all three installments for the current fiscal year, and it is anticipated that the thirteenth installment, which is due before Holi, will be credited to their bank accounts.
