Next-gen Ford Everest (Endeavour) world premiere on March 1

New Everest gets fresh Ford SUV family looks; shares underpinnings with latest-gen Ranger.

Ford has announced that the new-gen Everest SUV, the successor of the Ford Endeavour in India, will make its global debut on March 1. Based on the new Ranger pick-up, the next-gen SUV has also been teased by the manufacturer ahead of its unveil.

  • New Everest to have Ranger-like styling cues
  • Gets a 50mm longer wheelbase
  • Ford India could restart making cars in future

2022 Ford Everest: what’s new?

A teaser video released by Ford South Africa reveals some details about the new-gen Everest. For instance, the new SUV will have a large, chrome-embellished front grille flanked by headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs. The three-row body-on-frame SUV will also have a large panoramic sunroof on offer. While the teaser didn’t reveal much more, expect the Everest’s front-end design to remain largely similar to the new Ranger pick-up. At the rear, the Everest is expected to get inverted L-shaped tailights that are connected via a trim piece that spans across the tailgate. The interior of the new Everest too will be closely related to the new Ranger’s, but with upmarket bits.

Ford has also revealed that the new Everest’s wheelbase has grown by 50mm, which should translate into better legroom for rear passengers and perhaps even better boot space.

Engine options are yet to be revealed but expect the new Everest to retain the 2.0-litre diesel unit from the outgoing model and also add a new 3.0-litre V6 diesel to the line-up, as seen on the new Ranger. A 2.3-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine could be offered in some markets.A four-wheel drive version will also to be the part of the range. Ford has also confirmed an electric version and a go-faster Raptor version of the Ranger pick-up but, it remains to be seen if both these variants are on offered on the new Everest as well.

New Ford Everest: Will it come to India?

The chances of the new-gen Everest (Endeavour) making it to India are very slim as Ford has wound down manufacturing operations in the country. However, the American brand is expected to continue selling fully-imported, high-end models like the Mustang Mach-e SUV and the Mustang sportscar, among others in India. Recently though it was announced that Ford could potentially restart making cars here, having been granted approval under the government’s PLI scheme.

Do you think Ford India should consider bringing the new-gen Endeavour to India? Let us know in the comments.
