New Ola Electric scooter coming on August 15, Independence Day

Ola Electric has announced that it will be showing a new product on August 15, exactly one year after it officially launched its S1 Pro e-scooter. While there are no details yet on what exactly this will be, our best guess is that it will be a more affordable e-scooter to fill the void left by the base S1 that never came to fruition. Ola has expressed a desire to enter various segments, including electric motorcycles and cars, but there is little to substantiate these possibilities at the moment, and the most likely scenario is another scooter. 

If it does turn out to be an entry-level e-scooter, then you can expect a smaller battery pack and perhaps a less powerful motor, as well as fewer fancy features than you get on the S1 Pro. Ola’s biggest competitor Ather Energy is gearing up to launch a sub-Rs 1 lakh e-scooter, and perhaps Ola wants to attack that challenge head-on with a similarly positioned alternative of its own. After all, it recently hiked prices for its S1 Pro, which is now priced at Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, after all subsidies).
