New Maruti Brezza: exterior design fully revealed
Maruti Suzuki has been testing the new Brezza since quite some time and a first set of leaked images back in late 2021 had given us a glimpse of what the new SUV could look like. However, these new spy photos show the SUV’s exterior styling in full and confirm that this is not just a mere facelift but an all-new SUV.
As we’ve reported earlier, Maruti’s new compact SUV will just be called the ‘Brezza’, instead of ‘Vitara Brezza’. While the platform for the 2022 Brezza will be the same as the outgoing SUV, the exterior styling is all new. It gets new front fenders and bonnet, all with a much flatter design that is devoid of any cuts or creases. Its stylish new headlamps merge neatly into the grille, making it look like a single unit, and it comes with twin C-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs).
The grille is narrow and gets two chrome elements neatly positioned above the Suzuki logo. The matte-black front bumper gets a faux bull bar and a silver faux skid plate positioned below. A matte black cladding also runs across the sides of the SUV, giving it a rugged look. At the back, the new Brezza gets wraparound tail-lamps that extend throughout its width, along with prominent ‘Brezza’ badging placed right at the centre. The new rear bumper is finished in black and gets a prominent silver faux skid plate.
New Maruti Brezza: will get completely overhauled interior
While the new set of spy photos do not reveal the production SUV’s interior, we can confirm that the model will get an all-new dashboard, steering wheel, paddle shifters for automatic variants, re-styled front seats, a sunroof, among other equipment. The 9.0-inch screen from the Baleno is also expected to make its way into the new Brezza.
New Maruti Brezza: expected engine, powertrain options
The new 1.5-litre K15C DualJet engine that was introduced in the Ertiga facelift and the updated XL6 is also expected on the new Brezza. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Suzuki’s mild-hybrid tech will be on offer as well. This time Maruti is also expected to offer a CNG-powered Brezza, however, launch of this variant could take place a little later.
New Maruti Brezza: rivals, launch timeline
Maruti is expected to launch the Brezza sometime in end-June. The price is expected to be announced around the same time as the market launch of the heavily updated Hyundai Venue. Additionally, the new Brezza will continue to rival the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Tata Nexon in the Indian market.
