New Kia Carnival, launch details, expected price, interior, features -DellyRanks

Fourth-gen Carnival will be brought to India as a CBU initially; will sit between Innova Hycross and Vellfire.

Kia India is all set to launch the new Carnival in the country on October 3, with bookings set to open next week. The third-gen version of the MPV was sold in the country until its discontinuation in June 2023. The fourth-gen Carnival received a facelift in November last year globally, and is now headed to India. Here, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the upcoming new Kia Carnival.

How much will the new Kia Carnival cost?

The new Carnival will be brought to India as a CBU initially. Hence, it is expected to be priced over Rs 50 lakh. Local assembly is expected to begin a little later, which will likely bring its price down. Official bookings for the MPV will commence on September 16 for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh.

Which cars will the new Kia Carnival rival?

Upon arrival, the new Carnival will have no direct rivals at its price point. It will sit between the Toyota Innova Hycross (Rs 19.77 lakh-30.98 lakh) and the Vellfire (Rs 1.22 crore-1.32 crore). In the future, once Kia starts local assembly of the MPV, it will serve as a premium alternative to the higher variants of the Innova Hycross. For reference, the previous-gen Carnival, which was locally assembled here from CKD kits, was priced from Rs 30.99 lakh onwards before its discontinuation.

How many seating options will the new Carnival offer?

Kia is yet to reveal what seating configurations will be on offer with the new Carnival in India. The previous-gen Carnival was available with 7-, 8- or 9-seats. Globally, the latest-gen version of the MPV is available with multiple seating layouts, including 7-, 9- and 11-seater setups.

What powertrains will be on offer with the new Kia Carnival?

The Carnival sold overseas gets three engine options: a 3.5-litre V6 petrol, a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid and a 2.2-litre diesel. The India-spec version is expected to be offered with the same 201hp, 2.2-litre diesel motor that was on offer with its predecessor. This engine was available with an 8-speed torque converter automatic feeding power to the front wheels only.

Will the new Carnival be feature packed?

Kia India has confirmed that the India-spec Carnival will be equipped with features like a dual-pane sunroof, second-row electricaly adjustable captain seats with ventilation function and extendable leg support, power-sliding rear doors, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, dual 12.3-inch curved displays as well as an ADAS safety suite.
