New Bajaj Pulsar spied testing, could be an N160

This time around, it seems to be a sportier, higher displacement model than the next-gen Pulsar 125 that we recently spotted.

As Bajaj’s reinvention of its iconic Pulsar sub-brand continues, another upcoming Pulsar model has been seen testing. This comes just days after we spied the next-generation Pulsar 125. This time around, though, it seems to be a sportier, higher displacement motorcycle, and it looks like it could be a scaled-down version of the quarter-litre Pulsar N250 that launched last year (perhaps an N160).

The design of the wheels, the box section swingarm, the rising tail section, overall bodywork and signature tail-lamp all very closely resemble the N250, but the engine seems smaller in size and sports an underbelly exhaust unit, unlike the 250’s side-slung end-can. A kick starter is visible, like on the Pulsar NS160, but the shape and design of the engine covers on the test mule aren’t identical to those of the NS160, and it’s hard to tell whether an oil cooler is present or not (the NS160 gets one). So it’s unclear at the moment whether Bajaj is tweaking the NS160’s motor or developing a new engine in this displacement range (perhaps by scaling down the N250’s motor).

What’s apparent is that this upcoming bike seems quite close to production-ready, even wearing a proper paint scheme and not the camouflage that we usually see test mules in. This seems to suggest that the bike is in its final stages of testing, and an official unveiling shouldn’t be too far away.
