New Apple rumour reveals ‘shocking’ specs on iPhone 15. Details inside

Apple is said to bring a number of new features and design changes with its iPhone 15 series. Adding to the list is a rumour by ChargerLab which states that the Cupertino-based company may bring 15 watt wireless fast charging on all models of iPhone 15 series. The leak, if true, will be a major change that Apple will bring. At present, wireless charging is limited to 7.5 watt. Only MagSafe accessories can reach 15 watt.

Apple will introduce USB Type-C charging with the iPhone 15 range. Combining it with high-speed, open standard and wireless charging will mark Apple’s entry into a new territory.

“ChargerLAB confirmed from the supply chain that the wholesale price of Apple‘s MagSafe module is about $16, it takes up the largest part of the cost, resulting in higher retail prices,” the site says.

“The quotation of the new Qi2 wireless charging module is less than one-third of Apple’s MagSafe module, and the manufacturer does not need to be a member of MFi. In this way, there will definitely be cheaper and faster wireless charging accessories on the market,” it further adds.

Qi2 is based on Apple’s MagSafe standard and features the same halo-like ring of magnets that secure the chargers in place.

Additionally, the leak states that while EU law requires Apple to adopt USB-C by December 2024, the company is proactively shifting to USB-C with iPhone 15 models, two generations earlier than required.

In another development, Apple may discontinue iPhone 12 with the launch of iPhone 15. Every year Apple removes some iPhones from its production line-up and while these iPhones are still available on e-commerce websites or in re-furbished form with some dealers, the Apple Stores discontinue their sale.

Currently, one can find iPhones like iPhone SE 2022, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max in the Apple Stores. Notably, Apple didn’t manufacture mini models for the iPhone 14 model as the sales of for iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini were not very impressive.
