Navratri 2023 Day 7: The seventh day of Navratri will be marked on Saturday, October 21. The Saptami Tithi will be in effect from 09:53 PM on October 21 to 07:58 PM on October 22.

SHARDIYA NAVRATRI 2023: Goddess Kalratri, also referred to as Goddess Shubhankari, the seventh incarnation of the goddess Durga, is worshipped on the seventh day of Navratri. When Goddess Parvati gave up her radiant complexion to kill the demons Shumbh and Nishumbh, she got the name Goddess Kalaratri. She is the most destructive form of the goddess because of her dark black appearance, three eyes, unkempt hair, and four hands in the Abhaya and Varada mudras. In her left hands, she is holding her astras (sword) and the deadly iron hook.

Notably, it is that time of the year when the devotees worship the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga, known as Navdurga, namely Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri, with much fervour and zest during the festivities. This festival is celebrated twice a year. The first one is known as the Chaitra Navratri, which falls in March–April, and the other one falls in the months of September and October and is called the Sharad Navratri.

Navratri 2023 Day 7: Date and Shubh Muhurat

The seventh day of Navratri will be marked on October 21 (Saturday), during the Saptami Tithi. According to the Drik Panchang, the Saptami Tithi will be in effect from 09:53 PM on October 21 to 07:58 PM on October 22.

  • Om Devi Kalaratryai Namah॥
  • Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Ma Kalaratri Rupena Samsthita।
  • Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah॥

Navratri 2023 Day 7: Significance

Maa Kaalratri also spelled as Goddess Kalratri and Goddess Kaalratri is the most ferocious form of Goddess Parvati. She rules the planet, Shani and is regarded as a divine luminary and an unending wellspring of knowledge. Hence, those who worship Maa Kaalratri on this day are said to be blessed with Abhaya and Varada Mudras. Because of her Shubh or auspicious power within her ferocious form, she is also known as Goddess Shubhankari.

Navratri 2023 Day 7: Puja Vidhi

1. Wake up early, take a bath and wear clean clothes to perform Navgraha Puja on this auspicious day.

2. Devotees perform the puja with bhog, flowers, rice, incense sticks, ganga jal, dry fruits and panchamrita.

3. The goddess favourite flower, Jasmine, which blooms at night, is offered to Maa Kaalratri during the puja to appease the goddess.

Navratri 2023 Day 7: Bhog for Maa Kalaratri

  1. To absorb the powerful energy emanating from Goddess Kalratri, offer jaggery or anything made of jaggery to the goddess as prasad during the seventh day of Navratri.
  2. On Saptami night, the devotees also present items used in day-to-day cosmetics in a set of two and do the sringar puja.
  3. The items are divided into two sets, one is kept by the adherents as a form of prasad, and the other set is later given in the temples.
