Shownu shared the same frame with his MONSTA co-partner Hyungwon in the picture. He was seen shaving Hyungwon’s head before the latter started his basic training at boot camp.
South Korean boy group MONSTA X’s member — Hyungwon commenced his mandatory military service on November 14. Although the occasion marks a proud moment for Hyungwon, his fanbase — MONBEBE is disappointed at his brief departure from the group. In a heartfelt letter, Hyungwon shared that he would serve military duty for 18 months. Ahead of his enlistment, Hyungwon dropped a string of pictures on Instagram, flaunting his buzz haircut. But it was MONSTA X’s leader Shownu’s appearance in the snap that caught the attention of the masses. Shownu as a loving member of the group was seen shaving Hyungwon’s head.
“Dry your hair in 3 seconds” read Hyungwon’s fun caption. The first couple of slides captured Hyungwon posing with his hand on his fresh-cut hairstyle. The singer-dancer sported a too-short haircut for his military journey ahead. He was dressed in a black sweatshirt and similar-shaded joggers with a white T-shirt underneath. Shownu shared the same frame with his MONSTA co-partner in the second slide. They were clicked in a hand salute gesture.
Shownu was seen shaving Hyungwon’s head before the latter started his basic training at boot camp. Hyungwon faced the mirror and recorded the sweet gesture on camera. The picture stands testament to the love and affection among MONSTA’s group members. Hyungwon also offered social media users a close-up shot of his military hair. The last photograph saw the 29-year-old taking a mirror selfie before he chopped off his hair and had long tresses.
Soon after the photos surfaced on the internet, MONBEBE turned emotional at Hyungwon’s leaving MONSTA for some months and expressed their sadness in the comment section. “HYUNGWON SERVED ENOUGH, PLEASE DON’T GO,” wrote a user. “Bruhh!!!!We are not ready,” quipped another. Sending Hyungwon good luck, an individual stated, “TAKE CARE, HAVE FUN!!!! AND COME BACK HEALTHY.”
Last month in October, Hyungwon released a statement on MONSTA’s official fan cafe site talking about his departure. He wrote, “I feel more relieved than sorry, having readied my heart while observing the enlistments of my fellow members. I want to express my thanks, as your unwavering support has played a significant role in my ability to endure this brief separation. My expected discharge date is slated for May 13, 2025, and I’m already looking forward to reuniting with you all on the following day. Let’s meet again on that day with smiles!”
Apart from Hyungwon and Shownu, MONSTA X’s six-member group comprises — IM, Wonho, Minhyuk, and Joohoney.
