I have a fun-to-drive, 7-year-old Maruti Suzuki S-Cross diesel, which brings a smile every time I drive. However, it’s becoming cumbersome to drive in city traffic due to snarls caused by metro works. Is an EV worth it? My budget is Rs 20 lakh and I can extend it up to Rs 25 lakh.

Autocar India says: EVs are fun to drive as city cars and certainly worth considering if you have a wall box charger at your home. However, do bear in mind that long-distance trips, though possible, need proper planning and can take longer than expected because of charging breaks on highways. If you do decide to go in for an EV, the MG ZS EV is the best option for Rs 25 lakh.
