PureSpeed concept is the first model in Mercedes’ highly exclusive Mythos series.
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the PureSpeed concept – the first model from its limited-volume, highly exclusive Mythos range. The PureSpeed is essentially a two-seat speedster based on the SL roadster which swaps a conventional windscreen for an F1-inspired halo. The world premiere of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept took place on the sidelines of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, set to be held over this weekend.

Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed: design
The car’s design is inspired by the AMG One with prominent grille areas at the front end. It gets a unique livery that fades from red to grey, in a reference to the Mercedes that won the 1924 Targa Florio. The number 10, which features along the Purespeed’s flanks, also references the century-old racer.
Another highlight is the Halo system that replaces the conventional windscreen. The Halo is a direct derivative of the one used in Formula One cars. It protects the driver’s head in the event of an accident. On the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, the Halo consists of a bracket that is connected to the body of the vehicle.
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed: powertrain, deliveries
The speedster is based on the SL 63 4Matic+, which has a 585hp twin-turbocharged V8 and four-wheel drive. Mercedes has announced that the vehicle will be limited to just 250 units and the company will make it “available to the most dedicated Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors”. Deliveries are expected to commence next year.
